Do A good Turn Daily
A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.
On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law, to help other people at all times, to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.
Over 100 years of Troop History
Troop 102 was founded in April, 1913 at the Naugatuck Congregational Church. The troop has been chartered to the church for 105 consecutive years, thus making our troop on of the oldest troops in the nation.
The Troop's first Scoutmaster was the Reverend Philip C. Walcott. During his tenure, Scout Alvin Dreyer became the first Eagle Scout of our troop and of the Town of Naugatuck in 1922. As of April 2018 our troop has had 127 Eagle Scouts with more joining this prestigious level every year.
On May 10, 1914 at 7:30pm a young scout by the name of Cecil F Matson joined the troop. Cecil would later take over the troop as its second Scoutmaster in 1922. He received his Eagle Award as an adult leader in 1940 and became the Troop's 21st Eagle Scout...
Today the troop is active in the Naugatuck community. We hold the annual Harvest Moon Festival on the town green. Here the boys do scouting demonstrations and help the vendors around the fair. The troop also does a good turn by helping with White's Memorial spring cleanup. The troop camps one weekend a month through out the school year and attends a week of summer camp as group. Each year the older troop members plan and execute a high adventure trip which allows for the culmination of planning, leadership development and fun in a trip away to places such as Philmont New Mexico, the Florida Seabase, or canoeing the Allagash River in Maine to name a few.
Our Leadership plays a key role in helping the Scouts lead their troop
